"Château d’Esclans is a 267-hectare estate located in La Motte, between the Gorges de Pennafort and Fréjus in the Var region.
 
 
Above its cellars, the oldest in the area, once stood a medieval castle, the remnants of which are still visible today. Nearly 2,000 years ago, during the Gaulish period, an observation post was erected on the site to monitor and prevent potential maritime invasions in the Gulf of Fréjus.
 
 
Occupied by the German army during World War II, the estate changed hands several times before being acquired in 2006 by Sacha Lichine. The Château’s architecture draws inspiration from Tuscan villas, reflecting the iconic style of central Italy. Between 1875 and 2006, the estate, then known as ‘Terre d’Esclans,’ passed through multiple owners until Sacha Lichine took over.
 
 
In late 2019, the LVMH Group acquired 55% of the property, opening a new chapter aimed at expanding this premium rosé range beyond France.
 
 
At Château d’Esclans, harvests take place in September from dawn until midday to avoid the heat. Grapes are carefully hand-selected and placed in small crates. For Whispering Angel, mechanical harvesting is done at night to preserve freshness.
 
 
Upon arrival at the cellars, the grapes undergo a meticulous manual sorting process. Only perfectly destemmed berries meeting strict winemaker specifications are used.
 
 
Three types of juice are obtained: free-run juice (the largest portion), heart of press, and press wine. These steps are critical in shaping the final wine’s quality and are carefully controlled.
 
 
After pressing, the winemaker directs the juices according to quality—some ferment in stainless steel, others in oak barrels. The goal is to select the least tannic juices to produce soft, elegant wines, with pale color being the essential characteristic of their rosés.
 
 
On the palate, the wine is round and full-bodied, supported by bright acidity that adds structure. Its aromatic profile is delicate and refined, leading to a smooth, elegant finish with very little bitterness."
