"Château La Louvière is one of the emblematic estates of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, located in Léognan, south of Bordeaux. The vineyard’s history dates back to the 15th century, with the first vines planted in 1476 on lands known as La Lobeyra.
 
 
In the early 17th century, the property passed to the Carthusian order, who developed viticulture and exported wines to Picardy, England, and Flanders. After the French Revolution, it was sold to Jean-Baptiste Mareilhac, who rebuilt the château between 1791 and 1799 in a neo-classical style by architect François Lhôte.
 
 
After a long period of irregular maintenance, the estate was acquired in 1965 by André Lurton, a major figure in Bordeaux winemaking, who undertook a complete restoration of the château, park, and vineyards. Today, the estate remains under the management of the Lurton family and continues to be renowned for its exceptional red and white wines.
 
 
Classified as a Historic Monument since 1991, the château combines heritage, elegance, and winemaking expertise. It also offers visits and tastings for enthusiasts.
 
 
The 2016 magnum vintage was made following classic Bordeaux winemaking techniques, with hand-harvested grapes, fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, and 12 months aging in barrels, part of which were new oak. The magnum format allows for slower, more harmonious aging, enhancing complexity and finesse of the aromas.
 
 
Nose: Complex and elegant, with ripe black fruits, spicy and toasty notes, and a beautiful aromatic depth accentuated by the large-format aging.
 
 
Palate: Round and generous, with silky tannins, balanced freshness, and a long, persistent finish where fruit and spices mingle subtly. The magnum format ensures a smoother evolution and increased aging potential."
