- "Domaine de la Tour du Bon, located in Le Brûlat-Du-Castellet, Provence, owes its name to a historic watchtower, the “Tour de Bon”, once standing atop the highest hill of the estate. In 1925, the Mauric family acquired around 15 hectares on the site. Madame Mauric, originally from Champagne, replaced the olive trees with vines producing large table grapes.
- It was not until the official creation of the Bandol appellation in 1941 that the Maurics planted 2–3 hectares of vines for red wine, sold locally under the label “Cru du Castellet”. In 1955, they registered the brand Domaine de la Tour du Bon. In 1968, Claude and Robert Hocquard purchased the estate, uprooting the table grapes in 1970 to plant Mourvèdre and Carignan. The Parisian couple visited the estate monthly, leaving vineyard management to a local winemaker.
- This wine is vinified with minimal intervention to preserve the purity of the fruit. The process includes an extended maceration of up to six months in amphorae (tinajas), followed by a period in tanks before bottling. This method imparts rare freshness and finesse for Mourvèdre, while enhancing the expression of the clay-limestone terroir.
- Nose : intense Mediterranean fruit character, dominated by ripe dark fruits, with hints of garrigue herbs and delicate spices. The magnum format further enhances aromatic depth and harmony with age.
- Palate : elegant and structured, perfectly balanced between fruit concentration, freshness, and fine tannins. The texture is smooth yet expressive, finishing with a persistent blend of fruit, spice, and subtle minerality, reflecting the unique character of Mediterranean Mourvèdre."
