"Picon is a caramel-colored bitter of Marseille origin that traditionally accompanies beer (picon-beer) in the East and North of France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland.
  
It is made from fresh and dried orange zest then macerated in an alcohol solution.
  
Picon also requires cinchona and gentian roots, both also macerated. Sugar syrup and caramel are added afterwards."
