"The label is linked to an unusual story. In 1945, British officer Montgomery "Monty" Collins, a member of the Royal Air Force, participated in the reconstruction of the city's zoo while stationed in Berlin. His commitment resulted in the sponsorship of a monkey named Max. Once his service was over, he retired to the Black Forest where he opened an inn called "Zum wilden Affen", which literally means "At the wild monkey". It was there that he developed, with patience and passion, the recipe for an extraordinary homemade gin, marketed since 2008 by the Monkey 47 brand.
