- "Domaine de la Tour du Bon is a wine estate located in Le Brûlat-du-Castellet, in Provence.
- Domaine de la Tour du Bon is said to take its name from a watchtower, the "Tour de Bon," once erected on the highest point of a hill. In 1925, the Mauric couple acquired about fifteen hectares in the area known as "Tour de Bon." The wife, a native of Champagne, decided to saw down the estate's olive trees to plant vines producing large bunches of table grapes. It wasn't until the Bandol appellation was named in 1941 that the Maurics planted 2 to 3 hectares of vines producing a red wine intended for a regional clientele, labeled "Cru du Castellet." In 1955, they registered the "Domaine de la Tour du Bon" trademark. Claude and Robert Hocquard bought the estate in 1968. They decided to uproot the vines. producing table grapes in 1970 to grow Mourvèdre and Carignan. The Parisian couple visits the estate once a month and entrusts the vines to a winemaker.
- Aging: in oak barrels.
- This wine is more accessible than the Saint Ferréol but boasts a beautiful aromatic complexity linked to the three or four grape varieties that compose it. The fruitiness of the Grenache, in large proportion, brings kirsch notes to counterpoint the spicy and peppery accents of the Mourvèdre. As for the Cinsault, it ties the whole together.
- Its palate has a tannic structure that can be powerful in its youth and becomes fleshy and silky with age."
