  • "Château d’Yquem is a renowned estate in the Bordeaux vineyard, producing the eponymous sweet wine. It is the only Sauternes classified as Premier Cru Supérieur. The château has been listed as a historical monument since 2003.
  • This exceptional estate boasts four centuries of history, notably shaped by the Lur-Saluces family until 2004. Today, Château d’Yquem is owned by LVMH and managed by Pierre Lurton, also Director of Château Cheval Blanc in Saint-Émilion.
  • The 2018 vintage was marked by capricious weather, demanding the full skill, patience, and responsiveness of Château d’Yquem’s technical teams. With nearly tropical conditions, high rainfall, and above-average temperatures, the vineyard faced significant disease risks, successfully mitigated by constant supervision. The fine summer weather that extended into September allowed the grapes to reach optimal ripeness with a high potential alcohol level, although botrytis development was delayed. Early October rains helped accelerate its progression.
  • Harvest began on October 17, picking grape by grape, with most grapes collected between October 22–27, fully affected by botrytis. These 17 days of careful harvest allowed Château d’Yquem to capture the very best of what is known as a “vignerons’ vintage.”
  • The 2018 vintage is a triumph, reflecting the year-long dedication of the team. It reveals a perfect balance of vibrant, delicate fruit, floral notes, and subtle spices.
  • On the palate, expect ripe, almost roasted apricot, quince, and hints of coconut.
  • The wine is delicate yet fresh, generous without excess, with astonishing complexity and exceptional aging potential."
